Roger Burdette scored a pair of late second-half goals as Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic blanked Class AAA No. 11 South Charleston 2-0 in a boys soccer match at Trace Fork in South Charleston.
The Black Eagles (4-3-1) did outshoot the Fighting Irish (6-0-2) in the game 8-5.
Jada Bohn and Peyton Mullen also tallied a goal for the Fighting Irish (11-0). Elena Pampanio had the lone goal for the Cougars (4-6-1).
SENIOR GOLF: The 52nd West Virginia Senior Amateur began Monday at Glade Springs Resort, where 18-hole stroke play qualifying decided seeding for the match play portion of the championship.
Davin's Jim Grimmett was the stroke play medalist, shooting 2-under-par 70. John Kingora of Morgantown was the only other player to shoot an under-par score. The round of 16 for the championship flight and quarterfinals for both the Silver and Senior flights begin today at 8 a.m.
