Former Herd player joins Globetrotters
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Former Marshall basketball player Johnny Thomas, referred to as "dunking sensation Jonathan 'Hawk' Thomas," has joined the Harlem Globetrotters.
Thomas was a graduate transfer from North Carolina State when he joined the Thundering Herd program, and had two years of eligibility. He used just one, averaging 9.1 points per game in 2010-11.
Thomas is one of four newcomers to the Trotters, who previewed their 2014 tour last weekend in Bangor, Maine. Typically split into several squads, they will play more than 290 games in 250 cites in 47 states, six Canadian provinces and Puerto Rico, plus a tour of Australia and to U.S. troops abroad.
The Globetrotters are scheduled to play in Charleston on March 11 and Huntington the next night.
