Roundup: GW's Taylor Ellis commits to Coastal Carolina for soccer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- George Washington girls soccer player Taylor Ellis has verbally committed to Coastal Carolina, a member of the Big South Conference.

Ellis who was recruited as an outside defender, has been a utility player for the Class AAA No. 8 Patriots.

  • RIVERSIDE 3, PRINCETON 3: Maddie Mcdermit scored two goals for Riverside in a tie against visiting Princeton Tuesday in girls soccer. Kalissa Bannister added a goal for Riverside (6-1-1). Kristen Bales and Amanda Barrett tallied a goal apiece for Princeton (6-5-2).

  • WVU SOCCER: Penn State defeated West Virginia 2-1 Wednesday in men's soccer at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The loss is the third straight for the Mountaineers (3-4-1). Senior Craig Stephens put the Mountaineers up 1-0 in the fifth minute but Shane Campbell tied the match in the 12th minute. Jordan Tyler scored the winning goal on a header for Penn State (5-2-1) in the 71st minute.

  • WVU TICKETS: Mountaineer Athletic Club members and past season ticket holders have until Monday to reserve priority seating for the 2013-14 WVU men's basketball season.

    Single-game tickets for non-conference games will go on sale Oct. 7. To order tickets, fans can stop by the Mountaineer Ticket Office in the Coliseum, call 1-800-WVU GAME or visit WVUGAME.com. Ticket information for Big 12 games will be announced at a later date.

  • CONCORD SPORTS: Concord senior Evan Muscari has been named the Mountain East Conference Golfer of the Week. Muscari earned medalist honors at the Ohio Valley University Invitational last weekend when he shot a 3-over-par 143 to lead the Mountain Lions to a second-place team finish.

  • Concord will host a tailgate for Mountain Lion Club members before the football team's Oct. 5 homecoming game against Fairmont State. The party will begin at noon in the parking lot behind the press box. Food and drinks will be provided free of charge. Donations will also be accepted.
