Fairmont State gained 414 yards of total offense as the Falcons rolled past West Virginia State 56-3 in a Mountain East Conference tilt Saturday at Duvall-Rosier Field in Fairmont.
Dawrence Roberts carried the ball 14 times for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Fairmont (2-2, 1-2). Quarterback Cooper Hibbs added 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Daniel Marc-Sears hauled in four catches for 56 yards and a score.
Romell Haley and Edward Blair led the West Virginia State defense with six tackles each. Dominique Blair forced the only Fairmont State turnover of the day with an interception for the Yellow Jackets (0-4, 0-3 MEC).
State was led offensively by Shanin Bennefie, who caught six passes for 106 yards. The Yellow Jackets committed four turnovers with two interceptions and two fumbles lost.
SHEPHERD 45, WESLEYAN 10: Allen Cross rushed 16 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns to lead Shepherd to a road win over West Virginia Wesleyan at Cebe Ross Field in Buckhannon. Quarterback Trae Tinsman also connected on 11 of 15 passes for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Rams (4-0, 3-0 MEC).
URBANA 12, GLENVILLE 9: Alvin Busbee's 8-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter stood up as the game winner as Urbana held off Glenville State in Urbana, Ohio. The Pioneers had a field goal try from 32 yards that missed left and quarterback Sean Steele was intercepted by D'Gary Wallace later in the fourth just as the Pioneers crossed into Urbana territory.
CONCORD 20, WEST LIBERTY 3: The Mountain Lions forced three turnovers, including a 32-yard interception for a touchdown by senior safety Josh Clark in a road win over the Hilltoppers (2-2, 1-1). Calvinaugh Jones led the offensive attack for Concord (3-1, 2-0 MEC), rushing for 132 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown.
