Hurricane's Brian Anania of the Marshall men's golf team won his first tournament of his collegiate career at the Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational with a 6-under-par 210 final score Tuesday.
Anania shot a career-best-tying 68 in the final round. The 4-under score put his total tally one stroke ahead of Mitchell Thomas (Tennessee Tech) and Baxter Reeves (Cincinnati).
The Herd finished second overall with a three-round score of 3-over-par 867, five strokes behind winner Austin Peay State.
MEC HONORS: Notre Dame College's Adam Mitchell has been named Mountain East Conference men's soccer offensive player of the week, while Charleston's Justin Bryant has earned defensive honors. Mitchell scored four goals to lead Notre Dame to MEC victories over Urbana and Concord. Bryant made his second career start and recorded a shutout in a 2-0 win over Concord.
