Jason Martin of the Wheeling Country Club finished second in the Nike Golf Las Vegas Professional Event, shooting a three-round total of 203, one stroke behind the winner.
Tygart Lake Golf Course's Brad Westfall shot a 211, which was good for seventh place, and Ty Roush from the Riverside Golf Club completed the event in ninth place with a 214. Jonathan Clark, Sleepy Hollow Golf Club, finished in 12th place.
WVU SPORTS: West Virginia University's varsity athletic teams have a combined Graduation Success Rate score of 84 percent, according to data released by the NCAA.
WVU's 84 GSR is the highest in school history. It's up two points from last year's average and is higher than the NCAA's overall four-year GSR average score of 82.
Trailing 4-0, the Gold team used a two-out rally to tie the game in the fifth inning. Senior left fielder Jacob Rice cut the deficit to 4-2 with a two-run single to center field, then freshman first baseman Jackson Cramer hit a game-tying two-run double.
Junior catcher Cameron O'Brien gave the Gold squad the lead in the sixth inning with a line-drive solo home run over the left-center field wall.
HYCAT SWIMMING: The HYCAT swimming team will host the "Debbie Kortz Memorial" Age Group and Senior Invitational today through Sunday at the University of Charleston natatorium. Today's events begin at 5:15 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday's events begin at 8:45 a.m. Admission is free to the public.
