Valley rallies for 40-9 win at Richwood

Dante Wilkerson and Keyshawn Payne each ran for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns and unbeaten Valley rallied from a second-quarter deficit to post a 40-9 prep football win at Richwood on Friday.

Wilkerson carried seven times for 129 yards and two TDs (including a 94-yarder) for the Greyhounds (8-0), ranked No. 3 in Class A, and Payne added 104 yards on 15 carries with two scores. Wilkerson also had an interception and fumble recovery on defense.

Michael Adams ran for 163 yards and booted a field goal for the Lumberjacks (2-6).

  • CHAPMANVILLE 34, TOLSIA 20: Devin Wiley had a monster game, rushing 17 times for 246 yards and three TDs and catching a 72-yard scoring pass as the visiting Tigers rallied from a halftime deficit.
  • Also for Chapmanville (5-4), Alex Berry hit on 9 of 18 passes for 140 yards and one TD.

    Brandon Ward ran 55 and 73 yards for first-quarter touchdowns to hand an early 14-0 lead to the Rebels (3-5).

  • MINGO CENTRAL 26, LOGAN 20: Deonte Joplin ran for 119 yards and Stevie Hammond ran for two TDs and threw for a third to lead the Miners (6-2) past the Class AAA Wildcats (5-3).
  • Dekweon Willis also ran for a score and Alex Lee caught a touchdown pass for Mingo Central, which won its third in a row.

    For Logan, Ryan Miller completed 9 of 12 passes for 183 yards and two TDs, including a 66-yard scoring strike to Josh Rein, and also ran for a touchdown.
