Wendy's restaurant chain has announced the 20 state finalists in West Virginia for the prestigious Wendy's High School Heisman Award.
The program, now in its 20th year, recognizes high school seniors for their achievements in academics, athletics and leadership in their communities.
The finalists include, for the girl's: Amelia Paladino, University; Caitlin Gale, St. Joseph; Sophie Kinnard, Tyler Consolidated; Sarah Ferguson, Doddridge County; Samantha Graffius, Scott; Bethany Taylor, Huntington; Rachel Morris, Parkersburg; Kaitlyn Shaver, Greenbrier East; Mary Schmeck, Sissonville; and Katelyn Mahoney, Philip Barbour.
The boys finalists are: Robert Snedegar, Greenbrier East; Robert Kay II, George Washington; Dylan Reynolds, Tyler Consolidated; James Keyser, Spring Valley; William Jackson, Riverside; Jack Armstrong, University; Jason Hill, Martinsburg; Joshua Rein, Logan; Cameron Cottrill, Poca; and Aaron Persily, Charleston Catholic.
WVU TICKETS: Individual tickets for Big 12 home games and mini-packages for the 2013-14 West Virginia University men's basketball season will go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday at the Mountaineer ticket office.
The Gold and Blue package will include tickets to the Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Baylor and Kansas games for a price of $128 per package.
There will be a special $10 ticket available online at WVUGAME.com for the Texas game and the Oklahoma game. All other available Big 12 single-game tickets are $27.
Tickets are available for 14 of the 15 home games, including all nine Big 12 contests, for $5 per game. The home opener against Ohio State at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 is a doubleheader with the men's team. Fans can attend the doubleheader for $10 by purchasing a ticket to the men's game vs. Mount St. Mary's.
MU SOCCER: The Marshall men's team fell to visiting Kentucky 2-0. Tyler Riggs and Brad Doliner scored for the Wildcats.
