Xavier Humphrey erupted for 34 points as Charleston picked up a 64-56 men's basketball win over Wheeling Jesuit Monday in Wheeling.
The Golden Eagles (4-1, 1-1 Mountain East Conference) jumped out to a 27-15 halftime lead and never looked back. Aleksander Kesic chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds for Charleston.
The Cardinals (1-2, 1-1) were paced by Eric Siefert's 17 points.
Kelvin Goodwin and Keene Cockburn also contributed 17 points apiece for the Hilltoppers (5-0, 2-0 MEC). Anton Hutchins paced the Yellow Jackets (1-2, 0-2) with 24 points while Steve Wing and Dominic Phillips had 10 points apiece.
LeAnne Ross added 18 points for the Golden Eagles (5-1, 1-1 MEC) while Nicole Perry netted 14. Alex Anderson led the Cardinals (1-3, 0-2) with 16 points.
Emily Bucon contributed 14 points for the Hilltoppers (3-3, 2-0 MEC). Lexy Carson posted a game-high 26 points for the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 1-1) while Asia Greenleaf added 15.
