Switzer selected All-ACC first team
Freshman Ryan Switzer, the two-time Kennedy Award winner from George Washington, has been selected to the All-ACC football first team as a special teams player.
Switzer, who was chosen at the specialist position, tied an ACC record by returning four punts for touchdowns during the regular season and currently averages 20 yards per return.
As a wide receiver, he's caught 29 passes for 319 yards and three TDs and also threw a 59-yard scoring pass.
Stadium's name to honor former coach Good
The Kanawha County School Board voted unanimously Monday to honor former Dunbar High School coach Delmar Good by adding the name Delmar E. Good Stadium to Lions Field in Dunbar.
Good, who passed away in May at age 89, led Dunbar to back-to-back Class AAA track championships in 1958-59, adding to the one it won in 1957.
In football, Good guided the Bulldogs to an undefeated season in 1964 (with two ties) and coached the Bulldogs to the 1965 AAA state championship game, where they lost to Bluefield 13-0.
When Good retired in 1985, his 132 football coaching victories were the second-most in Kanawha County. He was also the head boys basketball coach at Dunbar.
