WVU Tech sophomore Dirk Ponchak was selected the U.S. College Athletic Association's wrestler of the week.
Ponchak, an Ohio native, posted a 5-0 record this past week in the 157-pound weight class in leading the Golden Bears to a 4-1 mark.
WINFIELD BASKETBALL: The Winfield boys basketball team will honor its past state tournament teams before a home game against Hurricane Dec. 28. The 2003-2004 championship team will be honored for its 10-year anniversary.

MEC HONORS: Glenville State's Lamar Mallory was named the Mountain East Conference men's basketball player of the week Monday.
Mallory, a senior forward from Dayton, Ohio, scored a team-high 25 points on 11 of 17 shooting in the Pioneers win over Fairmont State last week. He also pitched in nine rebounds and blocked two shots.
Glenville's Taisa Bristrow was selected the MEC women's player of the week. The senior guard from Baltimore tallied 20 points in last week's victory over Fairmont State with three assists and eight boards.
