Roundup: WVU’s Harlee, Noreen nominated for community service honor

West Virginia's Jess Harlee and Kevin Noreen were among 202 nominees for the 2014 Allstate Good Works teams by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Allstate Insurance Company Tuesday.

The award recognizes a select group of college basketball student-athletes who have helped their communities through volunteerism and civic service.

  • WVU women's soccer forward Frances Silva has been named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy, representing the highest individual achievement in college soccer, by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The senior led the Big 12 in goals, assists and points.

  • UC BASKETBALL: The basketball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday between the University of Charleston and Shepherd in Shepherdstown has been moved to Sunday due to a scheduling conflict. The women's game will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

  • POWER BASEBALL: The West Virginia Power announced several additions and promotions within their front office Tuesday.

    Will Bell, Adam Marco and Jordan Pence have been promoted and Kaitlin Parsons, Robert Robinson and John Schraer have been added to the full-time staff.

    Bell was promoted to group sales manager after two seasons as street team coordinator. Marco will serve as the director of marketing and media while maintaining his role in media relations and as the club's broadcaster. Pence is now the team's manager of client services after spending last season as the suite coordinator.

    Robinson will serve as the street team coordinator, Parsons is the new assistant director of marketing and Schraer is now an account executive.
