MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Charles Sims' one season at West Virginia didn't exactly turn out like he would have liked, but the fifth-year senior back is still being recognized for his efforts.
A day after being named the Big 12 newcomer of the year on the media-generated all-conference team, Sims was accorded the same honor on the official All-Big 12 team as voted by the league's coaches.
The transfer from Houston is the second Mountaineer to win one of the league's top individual honors in the school's two years in the league. Tavon Austin was the Big 12 special teams co-player of the year in 2012.
Sims was also chosen to the first-team offense at running back. Three Mountaineers made the second team - defensive end Will Clarke, safety Darwin Cook and punter Nick O'Toole.
Five Mountaineers earned honorable mention: Cody Clay at fullback, offensive linemen Curtis Feigt and Quinton Spain, safety Karl Joseph and linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski.
