Roundup: The Greenbrier hosting USTA youth tennis tournament

The Greenbrier Tennis Club will host a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Mid-Atlantic Boys 18-and-under singles and doubles tournament Saturday through Monday at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.

Players from Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia are scheduled to compete, including Isaac Stolar from Morgantown.This will be an L4 Challenger tournament, the second-highest level sectional tournament that the players participate in.

The tournament starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the finals and consolation matches scheduled for Monday.

  • WVU BASKETBALL: Tickets for Saturday's Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic between West Virginia and Marshall are available at the Charleston Civic Center Box Office. Fans can purchase tickets for the men's and women's matchups by calling 304-345-SHOW.

    Tickets for the WVU-William & Mary men's basketball game in Charleston on Sunday, Dec. 29, are also on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office and the Charleston Civic Center Box Office.

  • MARSHALL BASEBALL: Due to inclement weather, the Marshall University baseball team will offer a second hitting and pitching clinic on Jan. 5.

    The hitting portion of the clinic will run from 9 a.m. until noon, and the pitching clinic will run from 12:30-3:30 p.m. For more information, contact assistant coach Brian Karlet at 304-696-6454.
