Brady Cox tallied 19 points and Chapmanville got off to a blistering start Saturday afternoon in earning a 72-43 victory over North Marion during the 15th FCA Hoops Classic at the Civic Center.

The win for the Tigers saved a little honor for the Cardinal Conference in its inaugural challenge against the Big 10 Conference, since it stood as the lone win for the Cardinal during the first six games of the day-long event between the two Class AA leagues.

Chapmanville got off to a 23-6 lead after one quarter and cruised home.

Josh Butcher added 17 points and Joe Tackett 16 for the unbeaten Tigers (3-0). Cody Opron's nine points were high for the Huskies.

n  EAST FAIRMONT 61, SISSONVILLE 56: Brennon Vincent had 19 points as the Bees held on to secure the win despite a late rally by the Indians.

Sissonville trailed 31-16 at halftime before making it a game in the second half.

Myles Johnson scored 12 points and Nick Greely 10 for East Fairmont. Chance Brown led Sissonville (1-2) with 16 points and Seth Bowlin added 15.

n GRAFTON 62, HOOVER 50: Mitch Crutchfield tallied 18 points, including five of his team's eight 3-pointers, during a victory against Herbert Hoover.

Chris Smith chipped in 17 points and Zach Musgrave 12 for the Bearcats.

For the Huskies (0-3), Matt Justice scored 17 points and Noah Toops 14, including four 3s.

n LIBERTY 60, VAN 49: Adam Shreve sank seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points to lead the charge for Liberty Harrison. No one else scored more than seven for the Mountaineers, who parlayed a 19-2 edge in the third quarter for the win.

Brandon Elswick led the Bulldogs with 17 points and Keith Blevins added 11. Van, which led 32-22 at halftime, was subbing during the Big 10-Cardinal Challenge since the Cardinal doesn't have as many teams as the Big 10.

n LINCOLN 64, TOLSIA 37: Hunter Hamrick led a balanced attack with 13 points for the Cougars. Cole DeBerry (12), Alec Moran (11) and Brandon Fazalare (11) also hit double figures in scoring for Lincoln.

Kaleb Sturgell led the Rebels with 15 points. Tolsia trailed 31-12 at halftime.

n BRIDGEPORT 86, MINGO 51: Ryan Sprouse popped in 20 points as the Indians rolled. Chase Robey (16 points), John Wilfong (13) and Logan Smith (12) also chipped in to Bridgeport's success.

For Mingo Central (0-3), Alex Lee netted 17 points and Mallie May 10.

n WAYNE 57, PHILIP BARBOUR 52: Brett Justice had 15 points and Grant Ferguson 13 as the Pioneers rallied from a halftime deficit to take the victory.

Philip Barbour led 29-21 at the break.

The Colts received 12 points from Al Johnson and 11 from Caleb Hawkins.
