Prep basketball: Catholic girls cruise by Wahama

Vida Imani poured in 27 points as Charleston Catholic built up a 44-11 halftime lead and cruised to an 81-26 girls basketball win at Wahama Saturday.

Anna Whelan scored 16 points for the Irish (7-1). Sierra Carmichael led Wahama with 13 points.

  • CROSS LANES 50, GRACE 25: Courtney Kendrick recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds as Cross Lanes Christian put away host Grace Christian.
  • Kathryn Legg tallied 10 points and seven steals for Cross Lanes (7-2) and Abby Jeffrey scored 11. Shelby Cicenas led Grace Christian (2-3) with 13 points.

  • GREENBRIER EAST 74, PHILLIP BARBOUR: Sydney Nunley led Greenbrier East (8-0) with 15 points and 21 rebounds and Chaunte McDowell (17 points) and Lexi Tincher (14) both scored double-figures.
  • Brooke Pomp led visiting Phillip Barbour (3-7) with eight points.

  • LOGAN 65, CHAPMANVILLE 35: Shayna Gore erupted for 25 points and doled out seven assists as host Logan cruised past Chapmanville.
  • Monica Mitchell contributed a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (6-3). Abby Marcum led the Tigers with 18 points.   

  • HUNTINGTON 80, FAIRLAND 48: Jordan Dawson recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds as Huntington beat host Fairland, Ohio.
  • Lacey Johnson and Dazha Congleton each scored 20 for the Highlanders (8-1). Kelsey Riley tallied 11 points for Fairland (8-3).

  • EAST HARDY 45, MIDLAND TRAIL 33: Marilyn Cassell tallied 18 points as East Hardy (1-8) earn its first win of the season.
  • Madison Syner had 15 points and 17 rebounds for Midland Trail (5-3).

    Friday's games

  • CLAY 65, WIRT 24: Payton Lucas, McKinzee Barker and Katelyn Horricks netted 11 points apiece and Isabelle Haberty had 10 for the visiting Panthers (8-2).
  • Allie Bailey had eight points for the Tigers.

  • SPRING VALLEY 56, WOODROW 25: The host Timberwolves raced out to a 19-0 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back.
  • Madison Morris scored a game-high 23 points for Spring Valley (8-2). Aaliyah Williams notched 18 points for Woodrow Wilson (1-4).

    Boys

  • GREENBRIER EAST 66, SLUVANNA 30: Obi Romeo scored 17 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as Greenbrier East crushed homestanding Sluvanna (Va.).
  • Tyler Canterbury led the Spartans (8-2) with 20 points and Rondale Watson netted 17. Talavious Hughes led Sluvanna (6-6) with 16 points.

  • CALVARY BAPTIST 60, HANNAN 38: Trent Spears scored a game-high 21 points to lead host Calvary Baptist Academy.
  • Julian Fleshman and Casey James each added 12 points with Fleshman grabbing in 20 rebounds for the Patriots.

    Mitchell Harmon scored 10 points for Calvary (5-3). Will Harbour led Hannan with 10 points.

  • TEAYS VALLEY 66, REGIONAL 24: Zack Moore scored 12 points as Teays Valley Christian handled visiting Regional Christian. Jase Heller netted 12 and Noah Kessler chipped in 10 for Teays Valley (8-5).
  • Friday's games

  • VALLEY 83, GREEN. WEST 56: The visiting Greyhounds (6-1) broke the game open in the third quarter, riding big efforts from Zac Warden (22 points), Raeshawn Breckenridge (16) and Druw Bowen (15).
  • Caleb Hamrick scored 15 points for Greenbrier West (2-2).

  • RAVENSWOOD 62, TYLER CONSOLIDATED 36: Jake Martin led Ravenswood (5-2) with 19 points and Heath Burgess, Riley Heatherington and Dylan Radabaugh each scored 10.
  • Jake Reed netted 10 for host Tyler Consolidated (2-8).

  • ELK VALLEY 63, TEAYS VALLEY 59: Trey Suttle scored 20 points as host Elk Valley Christian edged Teays Valley Christian.
  • Luke Williams chipped in 19 points and Jordan Elkins netted 13 for Elk Valley. Jase Heller led Teays Valley (7-5) with 19 points and Vlad Novak scored 10.
