GW's Brafford earns state Gatorade honor

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- George Washington's Matthew Brafford was named the Gatorade West Virginia boys cross country runner of the year.

The senior captured the Class AAA individual state title with a time of 15 minutes, 39.33 seconds and placed 47th in the Foot Locker South Regional in 15:35.

Brafford has maintained a 3.72 grade-point average and has volunteered locally on behalf of Young Life Christian ministries as a peer mentor and youth track coach. He is now a finalist for the Gatorade national award, which will be announced later this month.
