Washington, Byrd boys still No. 1
Washington (Class AAA) and Robert C. Byrd (Class AA), stayed perched atop their respective classes as the boys state basketball poll was released on Monday. St. Joseph is joined by Greater Beckley Christian in a tie for first in Class A.
The Patriots are followed by Huntington and Capital. South Charleston moved up one spot to No. 6.
Poca also moved up a spot in Class AA to No. 4, while Charleston Catholic rose to fifth in Class A. Valley cracked the rankings at No. 10.
Girls rankings do not have much movement
Parkersburg South, Westside, and St. Joseph kept firm holds on the No. 1 spots as the girls basketball poll was released Monday.
The top five in Class AAA remained the same: Greenbrier East, Huntington, Spring Valley, and University. Nitro moved up two spots to No. 6.
Fairmont Senior and Summers County remained No. 2 and No. 3 in Class AA, with Scott falling from No. 4 to No. 6 and Sissonville sliding from No. 6 to No. 7.
In Class A, Charleston Catholic remained at No. 8. (Full rankings on Page 2B.)
