CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Riding an eight-game winning streak, South Charleston (12-1) leaped three spots into second place in the Class AAA boys basketball state poll, trailing only unbeaten Washington. Capital dropped three spots to sixth.
In AA, Robert C. Byrd, Westside and Poca fill the top three spots, and in Class A, it's St. Joseph at the top, followed by Notre Dame and Magnolia. Charleston Catholic is seventh (see ratings, Page 2B).
For the girls, Parkersburg and St. Joseph remained atop the Class AAA and Class A polls, respectively, while Summers County claimed the top spot in Class AA.
Nitro fell to ninth in AAA, while Sissonville rose one notch to fifth in AA and Charleston Catholic stayed eighth in Class A.
