The Cardinal Conference wrestling tournament takes place at 6 p.m. today at Herbert Hoover High School.
Sissonville, the two-time defending champion, Poca, Mingo Central and Hoover, which was No. 10 in last week's Class AA-A West Virginia Coaches Association-wvmat.com poll, will compete in the four-team quad. The team with the best record after the round-robin format wins the championship.

WVU SPORTS: The WVU women's basketball team has moved up in both major polls after going 2-0 in Big 12 Conference play last week.
In the Associated Press Poll, WVU went from No. 21 to No. 17, and went from No. 24 to No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Mountaineers (19-3, 8-2) took down then-No. 23/21 Iowa State 67-56 at the WVU Coliseum Wednesday and earned a road win Saturday at TCU.
WVU gymnasts Hope Sloanhoffer and Nicolette Swoboda earned weekly Big 12 Conference honors Tuesday. Sloanhoffer earned her second straight Big 12 Conference Gymnast of the Week and Swoboda was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. The duo finished first and second in the all-around in the Mountaineers' season-best 195.5 showing in wins over Towson (192.425) and George Washington (191.825) on Sunday at the WVU Coliseum.
The WVU baseball team has been picked to finish seventh in the Big 12 Conference in the 2014 preseason poll. The Mountaineers received 23 points and are ranked ahead of Texas Tech (18) and Kansas (12). Kansas State is expected to win the conference, earning five first-place votes and 56 points overall.
MEC SPORTS: West Virginia State has been selected by the Mountain East Conference coaches to win the league's inaugural softball championship.
The Yellow Jackets collected 140 points and 10 of a possible 12 first-place votes. West Virginia State posted a 42-14 record last season and advanced to the NCAA tournament. The University of Charleston was picked to finish fourth with a total of 113 points.
Fairmont State junior swimmer Pasko Komadina was named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmer of the Week for his performance over the weekend against Alderson-Broaddus. Komadina took part in three relays that set pool records in Fairmont State's home victory and also took first-place in the 500 freestyle.
