Prep roundup: Ferguson leads Princeton past St. Albans 63-44
Aaron Ferguson scored a game-high 21 points as Princeton to a 63-44 boys basketball win over homestanding St. Albans Friday night.
Jeffrey Seams had 12 points to lead the way for the Red Dragons (2-11).
Sissonville 41, Herbert Hoover 36: Sissonville used a 17-5 run in the fourth quarter and hung on to beat visiting Herbert Hoover. Chance Brown, Blake Newhouse and Duncan McClung each scored 10 points for the Indians (7-8). Matt Justice led the Huskies with 10 points.
Charleston Catholic 71, Parkersburg Catholic 59: Nick George scored 25 points and Garret McCarty 17 to pace visiting Charleston Catholic (10-5) to victory. Hayden McCarty added 10 points for the Irish. Joe Padden (18) and Payton Sturm (15) led the scoring for Parkersburg Catholic (9-7). The Crusaders hit 11 3-pointers and the Irish eight.
Huntington 85, Riverside 62: Arick Nicks had 24 points and Tavian Dunn-Martin added 16 points and seven assists for the host Highlanders (13-2), who committed only four turnovers. For the Warriors (7-7), Tamar Lawson turned in 25 points and 10 rebounds and Tyus Wood scored 14 points.
Woodrow 84, Cabell Midland 41: Donte Nabors exploded for 29 points as Woodrow Wilson won at home. Brent Osborne added 12 points for the Flying Eagles (12-2). Mark Wilcox had 10 points for Cabell Midland (3-12).
Valley 68, Greenbrier West 62: Henry Barron-Houchins poured in 23 points as Valley hung on for a home win. Zac Warden scored 18 points and Raeshawn Breckenridge added 12 points for the Greyhounds (13-1). Corey Cox led the Cavaliers with 20 points and Jared Jennings chipped in 16.
Scott 57, Chapmanville 52: Eric May scored 12 points and Kirk Price added 11 as Scott (9-5) earned a home victory. Kenny Plumley tallied 14 points for Chapmanville (12-4) while Josh Butcher added 13.
Point Pleasant 73, Logan 67: Wade Martin had 11 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter as the host Big Blacks held off the Wildcats. Alex Somerville added 23 points for Point (9-6), which hit 14 of 17 free throws in the final quarter. Brynden "Worm'' Street led Logan (6-7) with 24 points.
Wyoming East 55, Westside 53: Christian Hedinger stole an inbounds pass and scored a lay-up with two-tenths of a second left as Wyoming East slipped past visiting Westside. Taron Ayers led the Warriors (10-2) with 23 points and Hedinger finished with 13. Will Fox and Corey Bowles each scored 12 points to lead the Renegades (10-3).
n Oak Hill 49, Independence 30: Kaitlyn Goodman netted 12 points and Savannah Keffer added 11 as Oak Hill (6-12) won at home. Chloe Layne had 11 points for Independence (3-12).
Wheeling Park 65, Parkersburg South 63: Dylon Rippeto launched a half-court shot at the buzzer that just missed as visiting Parkersburg South lost a road contest. Phil Bledsoe paced Wheeling Park (11-4) with 18 points. Ty Dobson led South (13-3) with 20 points and Logan Lawrentz had 10.
Ravenswood 74, Tyler Consolidated 36: Ravenswood nailed seven 3-pointers and cruised to a home victory. Jake Martin posted 23 points and Riley Heatherington tallied 20 points and eight rebounds for the Red Devils (9-5). Cole Kocker led the Knights (4-11) with 10 points.
Webster 68, Braxton 58: Stephen Cogar had 18 points to lead four double-figure scorers for visiting Webster County. Dalton Davis tacked on 17 points for the Highlanders (3-10), followed by Robbie Cogar with 14 and Brian Andrews with 11. Cody Hilton's 19 points led Braxton County (3-11) and McKinley Moore scored 11.
Roane County 66, Ritchie County 53: Jacob Neal posted 23 points as Roane County picked up a home win. Issak Willmoth scored 15 points and Tyler Harper added 12 points for the Raiders (13-3). Seth Cottrill led the Rebels (4-8) with 22 points and Riley Allen tossed in 18.
