Prep roundup: Ferguson leads Princeton past St. Albans 63-44
Mingo Central 64, Hoover 40: Dikembe Dixson had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists with three dunks to pace the host Miners (7-7). Alex Lee added 13 points and two dunks. For the Huskies (4-11), Matt Justice scored 20 points and Hunter White 10.
Woodrow 81, Princeton 44: Visiting Woodrow Wilson (12-2) vaulted into an 11-0 lead and captured its 10th straight win as Donte Nabors tallied 17 points. For the Tigers (5-9), Aaron Ferguson had 11 points.
Nicholas 74, Clay 51: Jared Tharp had 22 points as the host Grizzlies (10-5) prevailed. For the Panthers (6-8), Stephen Cole scored 13 points.
Nitro 59, Hurricane 48: Savannah Shamblin netted 22 points to lead Nitro to a 59-48 girls basketball win over visiting Hurricane Friday night.
Bethany Linville scored 12 points for the Wildcats (12-6). Hurricane (10-8) was paced by Abby Watson with 19 points.
George Washington 54, Parkersburg 44: Hailey Stewart and Kelli Jo Harrison notched 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the visiting Patriots. Alanna Mobayed contributed nine points, 15 rebounds, four assists and five steals for GW (9-6) and Shi Banks chipped in seven points and 14 boards. Brooke Kurucz totaled 14 points for the Big Reds (5-12) and Haley Ackerman had six points and 10 rebounds.
Spring Valley 76, South Charleston 65: Madison Morris poured in 31 points as visiting Spring Valley picked up a win. Kassidy Lemons pitched in with 17 points for the Class AAA No. 5 Timberwolves and Sarah Kelly added 16 points. Taliah Cashwell led the way with 22 points for South Charleston (13-3) while Shyanne Dunham scored 13 and Aaliyah Dunham and Rhea Smith tossed in 11 apiece.
St. Albans 55, Winfield 40: Tori Wilson scored 19 points as St. Albans cruised past host Winfield. Cameron Davis tossed in 12 points for the Red Dragons. Haylea Robertson led the Generals with 14 points.
Ripley 62, Riverside 54: Sarah Williams posted 19 points as Ripley edged visiting Riverside. Chelsey Hager scored 12 points for the Vikings (4-11). Kara Knapp led the Warriors with 17 points and Brittany Wood scored 13.
Teays Valley 70, Beth Haven 10: Holly Edwards had 15 points and Rachel Pence added 12 as Teays Valley Christian (9-6) cruised to a road win.
Tug Valley 47, Cross Lanes 31: Hannah Armstrong scored a game-high 13 points for host Tug Valley. Savannah Wilson chipped in 12 points for the Panthers and Kalie Robinson added 10. Julianna Lowery led Cross Lanes Christian (13-5) with nine points.
