GW's Josh Barnette and David Nason each scored 14 points, rounding out the six swimmers on the boys all-region team.
Shurow has been a cog in Hurricane's recent surge and helped start the day with a meet-record time of 1:42.97 for the Redskins 200 medley relay team. He was also part of 200 freestyle relay win and picked up individual wins in the 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, completing quite a busy day for the senior.
"It's been a great day," Shurow said. "We've been excited about this meet all year long and getting ready for states coming up next week. To go out there and start off with a meet record like that - we're really looking forward to next week. We have a chance to win that relay at states also, so it'll be a lot of fun."
Poe and Runyon also picked up multiple individual wins with Poe taking the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly and Runyon winning the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.
On the girls side, Morgan Carr of Charleston Catholic put up 18 points to take high-point honors. GW's Perry McGhee, Jordyn O'Dell and Emily Hageboeck, Hurricane's Madisyn Lyons and Winfield freshman Alyssa Rittinger completed the all-region team.
Carr set meet records in winning the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.
She should feel right at home next week, with older brother and former Catholic standout Nate Carr already in Morgantown as a freshman on the WVU swim team.
While the junior is still undecided about her collegiate swimming future, she hopes she can remind her brother on a daily basis that he's not the only great swimmer in the Carr family.
"I think I can get one of the pool records at WVU in the 200 IM and if I do that my brother has to look at my name every day," Morgan Carr said. "That would feel awesome. I want to get All-American in both of my events and that would be a huge accomplishment for me."
O'Dell set a meet record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.75 seconds with Hageboeck (100 breaststroke), Rittinger (200 freestyle), Lyons (500 freestyle) and McGhee (100 freestyle) also picking up a win apiece. The GW girls swept the team relays.
