MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Two members of West Virginia's basketball team showed up on lists Monday, one serious and another not so much.
Point guard Juwan Staten was one of 23 players named as finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, which goes to the nation's best point guard.
Bob Huggins, meanwhile, wound up on a list of the 100 sexiest people in college basketball, a list compiled by Collegeinsider.com.
The former is no surprise. The latter? Well, it didn't shock at least one person.
"Is that a surprise to you?'' Huggins asked when the subject was brought up Monday on the Big 12's weekly teleconference with the league's coaches. "But to so did Seth Greenberg.''
As for Staten, he is one of three Big 12 point guards on the point guards list, which is compiled by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The others are Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart and Iowa State's DeAndre Kane, the latter a graduate transfer from Marshall.
Staten, a junior, ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring, assists and assist-to-turnover ratio, fifth in field goal percentage and steals and first in minutes played. In West Virginia's most recent game he also went over 1,000 points for his college career, which included his freshman season at Dayton.
Huggins, meanwhile, was on a rather arbitrary list compiled by Collegeinsider's Nicole Shea, a compilation of mostly coaches that is listed alphabetically. On the Huggins selection, Shea wrote:
"There is no way you can have this list without the name 'Huggins.' On the court he still brings a lot intensity, but off the court he isn't quite as confrontational. His press conferences were very fun. As cool as they come in this profession.''
Huggins said he was told of the list by one of his daughters.
"I'm kind of looking through it and I thought, 'Well, this is pretty good,'" Huggins said. "And then I saw Seth and I quit.''
Greenberg is the former Virginia Tech coach who now works for ESPN.
Another coach with WVU connections also made the "sexy" list. Former Mountaineer guard Darris Nichols, now the coach at Northern Kentucky, is also included.
