CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The lineup for the Mountain State Athletic Conference Night of Champions, scheduled for Saturday at the South Charleston Community Center, has been set.
The boys championship game will headline the event at 8 p.m. and will feature West Division champion South Charleston against East Division champion Woodrow Wilson. The Class AAA No. 2 Black Eagles (17-1) earned a 74-53 decision over the No. 4 Flying Eagles (13-3) on Feb. 10.
The girls championship game will get underway at 6 p.m. with West Division champ Spring Valley squaring off against East Division champ George Washington. The No. 3 Timberwolves defeated the Patriots 61-48 in third game of the regular season.
The consolation games will get started at 2 and 4 p.m., respectively, with the girls matchup of West Division No. 2 South Charleston and East No. 2 Parkersburg being held first. West No. 2 Huntington will play East No. 2 GW in the boys consolation game.
Skills events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with boys and girls foul shooting up first. The boys champion will face the girls champion at the conclusion of the contests.
The 3-point shooting contest for both boys and girls will get underway next and will follow the same format.
A slam-dunk contest for the boys and a boys/girls combined "hot shot" event will conclude the skills portion.
Most place-winner games have also been set with a couple left to be determined.
On the girls side, all place-winner games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with the 15th-place game (Hurricane at Lincoln County), 13th-place game (Nitro at Riverside), and the 11th-place game (Winfield at Princeton) all set.
