CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Running backs coach Thomas Brown has left Marshall for a similar position at Wisconsin, he confirmed on his Twitter account.
Wisconsin hasn't announced the hiring, but Marshall has deleted him from its herdzone.com website.
Brown, the former 1,000-yard rusher at Georgia, juggled a talented yet enigmatic backfield at MU. For instance, Kevin Grooms and Steward Butler had inconsistent and/or injury-affected seasons, but still combined for 1,268 yards. Also, former walk-on Essray Taliaferro ran for 1,140 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Brown's departure is the first from MU coach Doc Holliday's 2013 staff and comes two weeks after National Signing Day. In contrast, Holliday had to refill about two-thirds of his staff a year ago.
