That was one of many frustrating themes Thursday for the Herd, as UAB dominated the boards and denied a late rally.
"When we're on the road, we're ready to silence the fans, especially in a hostile environment," said freshman forward Ryan Taylor. "But at home, I mean, we've got the fans with us and they have us pumped up, but sometimes we come out slow and we don't make shots.
"It's kind of like a hangover when we lost the previous game."
The Herd should have a hangover-like headache from the UAB game. The Blazers crushed MU on the boards (the margin was a misleading 51-41) and held the Herd to 3 of 20 from 3-point range. Chad Frazier had 13 points and eight assists and a critical block on MU's Kareem Canty to prevent a fast-break basket.
"That's a tough loss, tougher than two losses on the road," Taylor said.
