CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Hurricane boys basketball team cracked the Associated Press poll Monday, checking in at No. 10.
The Redskins joined No. 2 South Charleston and No. 5 George Washington. Capital fell out of the top 10 this week. The top teams in each class remained unchanged with Washington (Class AAA), Robert C. Byrd (AA) and Notre Dame (A) leading the way. Poca was second in AA while Charleston Catholic was fifth and Valley seventh in Class A.
In the final girls AP poll, Parkersburg South (AAA), Fairmont Senior (AA) and St. Joseph finished atop their respective polls. South Charleston was sixth and St. Albans eighth in AAA while Sissonville was fifth in AA and Charleston Catholic sixth in Class A. (See Page 2B for polls.)
