CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Braxton County scored 26 points in the first quarter and, helped by seven Liberty Harrison fumbles, defeated the visiting Mountaineers 39-0 for its first victory of the season Friday night.
Chase Oney, who rushed 14 times for 63 yards, scored the Eagles' first two touchdowns on runs of 15 and 2 yards, Thomas Pritt returned a fumble 40 yards for another score and Pritt hit Jared Pitchford on a 68-yard TD pass, giving Braxton (1-5) a quick 26-0 lead.
Pitchford led the Eagles with 130 rushing yards on 15 carries.
Liberty (0-5), which lost five of its seven fumbles, never advanced beyond the Braxton 16-yard line.
POINT PLEASANT 35, BROOKE 7: Cody Mitchell and Chase Walton scored two touchdowns each as the Class AAA No. 5 Black Knights stayed undefeated with a road win over the Bruins.
Mitchell rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns, including a 46-yarder, on 18 carries for Point Pleasant (5-0). Walton's touchdowns came on a 2-yard run and an 81-yard pass from Aden Yates, who completed 6 of 7 passes for 146 yards. Walton had 133 yards on just four receptions.
Thomas Cole scored for Brooke (1-5) on a 31-yard pass from quarterback Aaron Walker.Walker completed 8 of 17 passes for 161 yards with an interception and a touchdown. Cole finished with 133 receiving yards.
