CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Marshall's basketball team hits the Cam Henderson Center floor tonight in its exhibition game against Bluefield (Va.) College.

Tip-off time is at 7 p.m. for the Herd's lone exhibition against a lower-division team. Out to improve on its first National Invitation Tournament appearance in 24 years, MU's season begins Nov. 9 against Longwood.

All tickets tonight are $5 general admission. Those can be purchased at the box office, at herdzone.com or by calling 800-THE-HERD.

Marshall returns three starters and eight letter-winners from last season's 21-14 campaign, including top scorer DeAndre Kane and Dennis Tinnon, one of the nation's leading rebounders. They will be joined by junior-college imports D.D. Scarver and Elijah Pittman, plus new high school products Kareem Canty and Tamron Manning.

Bluefield, an NAIA program, went 19-16 and finished third in the Mid-South Conference. Senior center Byron Carpenter was that league's player of the year, averaging 21.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

The game also can be viewed on the Herd All-Access service, through herdzone.com. This will be the lone free offering; subscription for the season is $9.95 per month or $79.95 for a year.

Next weekend, MU will scrimmage Winthrop in Beckley. By NCAA rule, that meeting must be closed and not publicized.
