YOUTH SOCCER: The West Virginia Soccer Association will conduct Olympic Development Program tryouts for boys and girls born in 1995-2000 on Sunday at the Trace Fork Soccer Complex in Charleston.
The cost is $50 or $60 if not preregistered and any soccer player is eligible to participate, but must register online at www.wvsoccer.net. Those trying out need to bring a copy of a birth certificate and insurance card. The tryout times may also be found at www.wvsoccer.net.
The WV ODP is the start of the identification process for the national and Olympic soccer teams. ODP teams are made up of the best players in the various age groups and at the state level, are selected to participate in pool trainings and competitions against other states.
WVU GYMNASTICS: The West Virginia University gymnastics team is ranked No. 21 in the GymInfo poll.
The Mountaineers, who have a 194.263 team average, weren't ranked in the coaches preseason poll, but received votes. WVU sophomore Hope Sloanhoffer owns three national top 50 rankings in vault (No. 20), all-around (No. 25) and floor exercise (No. 39) while senior Tina Maloney is nationally ranked on the floor (No. 39) and all-around (No. 47).
YMCA TENNIS: The annual YMCA-NTRP tennis tournament will take place Friday through Sunday at Charleston Family YMCA with men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles competition.

HOOPS TOURNEY: The fourth annual Wheeling Park Classic basketball tournament is open to boys and girls in grades fourth grade through high school.
The cost is $150 per team and each team is guaranteed three games, which will be officiated by West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission-sanctioned officials.
