Soccer roundup: Winfield boys blank South Charleston

Shane Foster scored twice to lead Winfield to a 5-0 win against South Charleston in boys high school soccer Saturday.

Spiro Stilianadoukis, Jon Campbell and Dustin Atik had the other goals for Winfield (3-0). Generals keeper Caleb Martin earned the shutout, stopping three shots.

Ben Parr had nine saves in the first half for South Charleston (0-3) and A.J. Dilliard 13 in the second. Winfield outshot the Black Eagles 24-7.

  • SISSONVILLE 1, SPRING VALLEY 0: Casey Jarrett's first half goal for the Indians proved to be the difference in the road win.  
  • Travis Rhodes had three saves for the Indians (4-0) before a late-first-half injury forced him from the game.  Ryan Bailey finished in goal and had eight saves. Kris Sarver had five stops for the Timberwolves (1-1).   

  • CHAS. CATHOLIC 5, MOUNTAIN STATE 0: Ethan Nelson, Tristan Ritchie, Seth Ritchie, Addison Hutcheson and Mark Bronikowski netted a goal each for Charleston Catholic (2-1) at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium in Coonskin Park. Zachary Smith turned in 10 saves for Mountain State (0-3).

  • CATHOLIC 3, LINSLY 0: Goals by Meg Whelan, Lucky Lucente and Kirsten Mullins gave Charleston Catholic the win at Schoenbaum Stadium.
