Soccer roundup: Unbeaten Winfield boys top Irish

Winfield picked up goals from four different players to collect a 4-1 home victory over Charleston Catholic in high school boys soccer Tuesday night.

Shane Foster, Dustin Atik, Parker Wolfe and Spiro Stilianoudakis scored for the Generals (4-0). Atik's goal was key, as it broke open a game that was 2-1 at halftime.

Ethan Nelson scored a first-half goal for Catholic. Winfield outshot the Irish 19-9, with Caleb Martin making five saves.

  • HURRICANE 15, LINCOLN CO. 0: Scott Holmes, Cameron Keenan and Tomoki Suzuki each had two goals for the host Redskins (3-1). The parade of goal-scoring also involved Colin Miles, Kengo Noiri, Braeden Collins, Brooks Paine, Kent Bailey, Matt Ebbert, Wes McWatters, Jason Pauley and Michael Fruth. One of the Redskins' goalies, Ali El-Khatib, made one save against the Panthers (0-2).
  • CROSS LANES 6, WOOD CO. 2: Caleb George and Josh Taylor each scored twice as Cross Lanes Christian topped Wood County Christian. Dustin Harper and Micah Moles also scored for the Warriors (3-1), who got a combined two saves from Daniel McCormick and Levi Whitehead. Seth Tackett and Gabe Strause scored for Wood County (3-1).
  • RIVERSIDE 11, HOOVER 2: Derek Ash and Cody Roy scored three times apiece to pace the visiting Warriors. Jacob Sandner scored twice and Justin Casto, Adam Daugherty and Ryan Bench added a goal each for Riverside (1-1). For Hoover (0-4), Nathan Carte and Ian Striker had a goal apiece.
  • NITRO 3, RIPLEY 1: Isaac Judd scored twice and Alex Ross added a goal as the Wildcats (2-2) prevailed. An own goal kept Ripley (1-3) from being shut out.
  • ST. ALBANS 3, SC 0: Caleb Bone scored twice and Bijan Dinstgheib once for the host Red Dragons (2-1). South Charleston fell to 1-2.
  • Girls

  • CATHOLIC 6, SHADY SPRING 0: Emily Blake, Kirsten Mullens, Nicole Johns, Amanda Johns, Rachel Silverman and Meg Whelan all found the net for the Fighting Irish at Schoenbaum Stadium. Diane Bron-ikowski needed no saves to collect the shutout for the Irish (4-1-0).
  • NITRO 10, RIPLEY 0: Kayla Bilak scored four times to lead host Nitro. Emily Ross had two goals for the Wildcats (2-1-2), and Lindsey Kerns, Jordan Parsons, Emily Cooperrider and Devin Randolph scored one each.

    I respect the players more that score 1 or 2 goals a game against strong opponents, rather than score 4 or 5 against a week opponent and then say they are leading the valley in goals scored.

    yeh. That Bone kid is something else. He's only a sophomore.

    I am not sure why the stats are not being called in, but St. Albans has one player(Bone) with 7 goals and another(Danstgheib) with 5 or 6. SA has an overall record of 2-1-0 with 20 total goals scored in 3 games and a goal differential of +17 due to great team play and a hard-working defense. First year Coach Wes Dorcas is doing a wonderful job...Go Red Dragons!!!
