RIPLEY, W.Va. - Executing its two-minute offense to near perfection, Ripley rallied for a 28-26 victory over visiting Greenbrier East Friday.
Trailing 26-21 with 2:27 remaining, the Vikings put together an eight-play, 72-yard scoring drive to even their record at 1-1.
The decisive touchdown came on a 1-yard dive by quarterback Seth Parsons with 45 seconds left. Ripley kept the late drive alive with key receptions by Jacob Parsons, Matt Mellert and Scotty Ullom.
Parsons accounted for all four Viking scores by throwing two TD passes and running for two more. The senior completed 12-of-19 passes for 192 yards.
Viking coach Jimmy Frashier said the ball was in the right hands at the end of the game.
"Seth played an unbelievable game," Frashier said. "He let the game come to him and he took advantage of what was there. That's Seth."
Greenbrier East, which beat Lincoln County in its opener, scored first Friday.
The Spartans took advantage of good field position at the Viking 37, thanks to an interception by Dylan Hanna. The TD came six plays later on a 5-yard run by quarterback Brandon Dolan.
