Parkersburg claims Class AAA boys soccer crown

BECKLEY - George Capel and Brian Runyon scored goals to lead defending champion Parkersburg to a 2-0 win over Woodrow Wilson for the boys Class AAA soccer title Saturday.

Parkersburg (21-2-2), which beat Martinsburg 2-0 in the semifinals, won its sixth state title under coach Don Fosselman.

Parkersburg avenged a 2-1 loss in the regular season to Woodrow Wilson (16-4-3).

Capel, who also had a goal in last year's title win, scored in the 29th minute and Runyon added a goal in the 71st minute. Parkersburg goalkeeper Spencer Griffey posted the shutout.
