Soccer: GW boys blank Riverside

Noah Miller had three goals and two assists as No. 7 George Washington steamrolled to a 6-0 boys soccer win over Riverside at Schoenbaum Stadium on Monday.

Garrett Warner added a pair of goals, and Drew Davis scored one for the Patriots (6-2-1).

Riverside fell to 1-7 on the season.

  • WINFIELD 4, CABELL MIDLAND 1: Steven Taylor scored a trio of goals as Class AAA No. 5 Winfield picked up a home win.
  • Preston Sheldon had the other goal for the Generals (7-1). Carter Sutton netted the lone goal for the Knights (3-5). Winfield outshot Cabell Midland 16-3.

    Girls soccer

  • SA 3, LINCOLN COUNTY 0:  Kristian Anderson found the back of the net as St. Albans secured a home win.
  • Connor Beck and Nathan McNeil also scored one goal apiece for the Red Dragons (2-5-1).

  • GW 8, RIVERSIDE 0: Taylor Ellis notched three goals to pace visiting George Washington. Charlie Lucente, Haley Claudio, Caroline Barber, Stephanie Kelly and Gracie Switzer each tallied for the AAA No. 5 Patriots (6-1) and keeper Olivia Miller made three saves. The No. 14 Warriors fell to 5-3-1.
  • HURRICANE 8, CROSS LANES 0: Brittany Minor and Abby Watson each netted a pair of goals as Class AAA No. 2 Hurricane downed host Cross Lanes Christian. Callie McClanahan, Audrey Barber, Alexa Halkias and Gracyn Courtright each had single goals for the Redskins (8-0).
