Soccer roundup: Sissonville, Ravenswood boys play to 1-1 draw

Nate Schiefer netted a goal as Class AA-A No. 6 Ravenswood earned a 1-1 draw with host No. 2 Sissonville in boys high school soccer Thursday.

Anthony Rinehart had the lone goal for the Indians (8-2-1). James Carmichael made 14 saves for the Red Devils, while J.R. Strickland stopped 10 shots for Sissonville.

  • HUNTINGTON 3, CAPITAL 1: The host Highlanders bolted to a 3-0 halftime lead and coasted against Capital (3-4-1).
  • SC 3, NITRO 0: South Charleston got goals from Rashad Kincaid, Jonah Cosby and Kwesi Wilkerson as the Black Eagles (4-3) defeated Nitro (6-5).
  • CATHOLIC 9, HOOVER 0: William Scriptunas tallied three goals as Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic blanked host Herbert Hoover (3-6-1). Joey Trupo and Noah Cable each scored a pair of goals for the Fighting Irish (9-0), while Sam Revercomb and David Hamilton each had one.

  • SISSONVILLE 8, POCA 0: Karli Pinkerton tallied four times to key the visiting Indians (9-2). Lydia Murray and Madison Jones each scored two goals for Sissonville and keeper Brooke Reed needed to make one save to get the shutout.
  • WOODROW 2, RIVERSIDE 1:Riverside scored with eight minutes to play but could not complete the comeback on the road at Woodrow Wilson. For Woodrow, Shannon Barajas and Sarah Akers each scored while Maddie McDermitt got the goal for the Warriors (5-3-1).
