Meanwhile, Lewis' defense matched the offense step-for-step, play-for-play, especially in the first half. Of the Huskies' 16 first-half rushes, eight went for zero or negative yards and Hoover was held to no completions through the air.

It's been a tough year for Hoover (0-5), which has lost its last three games by a combined 119 points.

"That's a real good football team over there," Hoover coach Tim Meyer said of Lewis County. "They have a lot of seniors, they're a big, strong physical football team - you can tell they've been in the weight room.

"We're down there 41-0 coming out and we came out the second half and played pretty well defensively, and offensively we moved the ball a little bit. Our kids didn't quit and they didn't hang it up. They're good kids and they're going to work hard."

To Meyer's point, Hoover outgained Lewis County 151-129 in the second half, culminating in Tyler Americo's 1-yard TD run in the third quarter to end the scoring.

As for Class AAA Lewis (3-2), the Minutemen have only lost to No. 7 Point Pleasant and No. 4 University, both undefeated AAA teams.

"We were able to execute on offense, block right - we just did everything right the way our coaches told us to do," Metzgar said. "We've just got to get better every week, that's our main goal."

Lewis quarterback Braden Montgomery hit on 5 of 9 passes for 123 yards, including an 18-yard scoring throw to Skylar Carlton with just 18.6 seconds left in the first half.

Tyler Hoffman led the Huskies with 40 yards on nine carries.
