Corey Tornes tallied an unassisted goal early in the first half and host Nitro made it stand up for a 1-0 boys soccer win over Spring Valley Thursday.
Lee Klocke contributed 10 saves for Nitro (9-6). Jared Messer made six saves for the Timberwolves (8-7).
HURRICANE 6, RIPLEY 0: Felipe Thompson poured in four goals as the visiting Redskins cruised in a game called at halftime due to inclement weather. Alex White notched a goal and two assists for Class AAA No. 1 Hurricane (13-0) and Trevor Cunningham had a goal. Ripley fell to 2-13.
POINT 5, HOOVER 0: Ryan Bonecutter and Tommy Foust netted for host Point Pleasant. Steve Porter chipped in a score for the Big Blacks (6-4-1) while Brady Reymond had four saves. Herbert Hoover fell to 3-10-1.
SISSONVILLE 3, RAVENSWOOD 3: J.R. Stricklen made 21 saves and Anthony Rinehart scored twice for Sissonville, but Ravesnwood's Mason Carte scored three goals as the Red Devils and Indians tied. Josh Rawson scored the other goal for Sissonville and also had an assist. Ravenswood goalkeeper James Carmichael made 14 saves.
GW 7, SHADY 0: Garrett Warner had two goals and three assists and Noah Miller added two scores and one assist as George Washington won at Shady Spring. Also for the Patriots (12-3-1), Garrett Phillips stopped two shots in earning his 11th shutout. Other GW goals came from Peter Nelson, Graham Platz and Drew Davis.
ST. ALBANS 5, WOOD-ROW WILSON 1: Hannah Myers scored four goals to lead the Red Dragons. Madi Marshall also had a goal with McKenzie Albert adding two assists. Allison Miller also had an assist for St. Albans (5-4-2). Elizabeth Gramling scored for Woodrow Wilson.
NITRO 7, SPRING VALLEY 2: Autumn Griggs netted three goals and added two assists for the visiting Wildcats. Hannah Linville tacked on two goals for Nitro (5-7) and Kelli Douglas and Hannah Miller chipped in one each. Wildcats keeper Becca Hall turned in eight saves.
HERBERT HOOVER 6, SHADY SPRING 2: Cassie Hammes scored five goals and goalkeeper Bailey Aab made a diving save on a penalty kick to help lead Herbert Hoover against visiting Shady Spring. Morgan Meeley also scored a goal for Hoover (10-4-1). In the net, Aab made 11 saves while her counterpart from Shady Spring, Alex Underwood, stopped eight Huskies shots. Lyndsey Thompson scored the lone goal for Shady Spring.
RIVERSIDE 5, POCA 2: Maddie McDermitt tallied twice and Erin Hendricks, Alex Blankenship and Kara Knapp added one goal each for host Riverside (8-6-1). Marissa Perkins scored twice off penalty kicks for the Dots (6-6-1).
