Soccer roundup: Hurricane boys remain unbeaten

Rodrigo Bevaqua booted two goals as Class AAA No. 1 Hurricane remained undefeated with a 4-2 win at Spring Valley in a boys soccer match on Saturday.

Alex White and Felipe Thompson each chipped in a goal for the Redskins (14-0). Jacob Maddox had a pair of goals for the Timberwolves (8-8).

  • PARKERSBURG 2, SC 1: Garrett Krueger scored in the first half and Nick Payne in the second half for visiting Parkersburg. The Big Reds (12-2-2) outshot South Charleston 6-4. Kwesi Wilkerson had the lone goal for SC (9-4-1) in the 31st minute.
  • CATHOLIC 6, GREEN. EAST 3: Sam Revercomb and William Scriptunas each tallied a pair of goals as Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic rolled to a home win at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium. Adam Fox and Luke Smith also contributed goals for the Fighting Irish (15-0). Jacob Baker, Evan Ramsey and Stefan Marr-Madariaga posted goals for the Spartans.
  • CAPITAL 3, POINT 1: Jake Stanley, Josh Hardy and Tyler Shaffer each connected on goals to pace the host Cougars to a win on Senior Day. Christian Huffman assisted on all three goals for Capital (5-5-2), and Nathan Altman stopped 10 shots.
  • OAK HILL 1, WINFIELD 1: Preston Shelton found the back of the net as Class AA No. 2 Winfield salvaged a draw with host Oak Hill. Jacob Kemlock netted the goal for the Red Devils (2-6-2). Bryce Boggs made three saves for the Generals (11-1-2), and Brett Garris stopped seven shots for Oak Hill.
  • RIPLEY 2, RIVERSIDE 2: Jo-Jo Greely-Fay scored twice, including the tying tally with five minutes to go as the visiting Vikings forged a draw. Cameron Norris and Cole Goode chipped in a goal each for the Warriors (3-10-2) and Austin Ballengee made five saves. Chuck Sleboda had 13 stops for Ripley.

  • HURRICANE 2, ST. ALBANS 0: Audrey Barber and Brittany Minor each had a second-half goal as the Class AAA No. 2 Redskins earned a road win. Hannah Thompson stopped one shot in preserving the shutout for Hurricane (13-0-1). Sierra Clair made eight saves for the Red Dragons.
  • CATHOLIC 3, SHADY SPRING 0: Caroline Dundervill netted a pair of goals as Class AA-A No. 7 Charleston Catholic blanked Shady Spring at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium. Peyton Keener also scored for the Fighting Irish (7-4-2).
  • WINFIELD 4, FAIRMONT 1: Jordan Pauley netted a pair of goals for visiting Class AAA No. 3 Winfield. Jayne Lawman and Katie Bryant also scored for the Generals (10-1-2), and Avery Towns converted a penalty kick for Fairmont Senior.
