Jacob Weese added a goal for Hoover while Andrew Mercer had two assists and Brett Strickland turned in 12 saves. Ryan Cowan tallied for the Skyhawks on an assist from Michael Miller.

Girls

  • SA 7, POINT 0: Hannah Myers netted three goals as No. 16 St. Albans blanked visiting Point Pleasant 7-0 Monday in a Class AAA Region 4 Section 1 girls high school soccer contest.
  • Madi Marshall, Maddie Cogar, Katie Smith and Audrey Goode each had single tallies for the Red Dragons (9-8-2).

    St. Albans will travel to Winfield today for an 8 p.m. matchup with the No. 3 Generals.

  • CATHOLIC 12, SHERMAN 0: Peyton Mullen netted four goals as Class AA-A No. 4 Charleston Catholic cruised to a Region 4 Section 2 win at Trace Fork.
  • Quincy McKown registered a pair of goals for the Fighting Irish (13-5-2), while Sarah Fox, Jenny Borman, Hannah George, Katie Pulliam and Casey Gennett had single tallies.

    Catholic will face the Scott-Poca winner at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trace Fork.
