Prep soccer sectional tournaments: Hurricane, Catholic boys remain undefeated

The Spartans (12-4-1) will host the winner of Princeton-Woodrow Wilson at 6 p.m. Thursday in the section title game.

Monday's game

  •   POCA 8, SCOTT 0: Marissa Perkins scored a trio of goals to pace the Dots in Class AA-A Region 4 Section 2 at Trace Fork Soccer Complex.
  • Mariah Cook and Harley Hutchins and tallied twice for Poca (10-10-1). The Dots' Autumn Williams made two saves.

    Boys regular season

  • CROSS LANES 7, TEAYS VALLEY 0: Freshman Kyle Davis tallied three goals in Cross Lanes Christian's boys season finale.
  • Tyler Corbin and Austin Davis had two goals apiece for the Warriors (18-0-1) while Matt Cooper had eight saves.

    Regional berths                   at stake today

    Several teams in the Kanawha Valley will be punching their tickets to regionals today.

    Sissonville (19-2), which finished the regular season No. 1 in the state coaches association rankings, will play at No. 5 Herbert Hoover (13-5-2) at 7:30 tonight in the Class AA-A Region 4 Section 1 championship game. No. 4 Charleston Catholic (13-5-2) will take on No. 17 Poca (10-10-1) at 7:30 in the AA-A Region 4 Section 2 title game at the Trace Fork Soccer Complex.

    The Indians, who have won 14 straight defeated St. Joseph 1-0 in Monday's semifinals. Hoover, which is having its best season in school history, shut out Ravenswood 4-0.

    Sissonville blanked Hoover 6-0 last week in the only meeting between the two teams this season.

    Catholic defeated Poca 7-0 on Sept. 1 in their only matchup.

    On the boys side, No. 7 South Charleston (13-4-1) takes on Capital (5-9-4) at 5 p.m. at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium in the semifinals of the AAA Region 3 Section 1 tournament while No. 5 George Washington (13-5-2) faces Riverside (6-11-3) at 5:30 p.m. at Trace Fork.
