CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- George Washington has selected a unique starting time for its Class AAA playoff semifinal showdown at two-time defending champion Martinsburg.
The Patriots (10-2) will play the Bulldogs (11-1) at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Eastern Panhandle. That Friday starting time is only made available by the SSAC on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
In fact, GW-Martinsburg will be among the first playoff games ever staged at that time and date since the rule was adopted a couple years ago. Bridgeport and Keyser will also play at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the AA semifinals.
Martinsburg beat GW 35-27 in last year's state finals.
