Prep basketball roundup: Parkersburg girls turn back Hurricane

  • CABELL MIDLAND 55, RIPLEY 23: Alex Ellis netted 15 points as Cabell Midland cruised to a home win. Emily Harden added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (4-1). Jillian Mullins had a team-high eight points for the Vikings (0-4).
  • RICHWOOD 45, MIDLAND TRAIL 42: Hannah Metheney scored off an offensive rebound with 10 seconds left to send the game to overtime and the Lumberjacks went on to pick up a win at home.
  • Hannah Brown scored a game-high 18 points for Richwood (1-3) and Breanna Mazzella added 17.

    Marissa Workman scored 12 points to pace the Patriots (0-3) and Kennedy Cochran added 10 points.

    Boys basketball

  • SUMMERS 73, LIBERTY RALEIGH 71: Ta-Ron Ayers hit an 18-foot jump shot with .9 seconds left to give homestanding Summers County a win.
  • P.J. Smith erupted for 30 points for the Bobcats (3-0) and Ayers finished with 24. Levi Cook led the Raiders (0-1) with 19 points.

  • SHERMAN 75, MONTCALM 56: Sherman's Cody Muncy had 22 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Braden Harrah collected 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Tide won on the road. Blake Brewer added 19 points for Sherman (2-0).
  • For Montcalm (0-3), Michael Blackwell scored a game-high 23 points and Darius Brodesser added 14.
