Prep basketball roundup: Riverside tops St. Albans; Hurricane edges Capital

Josh Butcher nailed four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points as homestanding Riverside earned a 58-52 boys basketball win over St. Albans Friday. Marcus Reed pitched in 18 points for the Warriors (2-0).

Thaddeus Moss, son of former DuPont and Marshall standout and current San Francisco 49ers receiver Randy Moss, scored a team-best 19 points in his freshman debut for the Red Dragons (0-1). Taylor Clark added 12 points for St. Albans.

  • HURRICANE 69, CAPITAL 68: Rasaan Harris hit a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left as Hurricane pulled out a road win after leading by as many as 12. Henry Sorsaia led the Redskins (3-0) with 25 points and 12 rebounds and Trey Dawson had 12 points. Austin Coleman netted 18 points for the Cougars (1-2) and Daquan Yarborough 11.
  • CLAY 45, SISSONVILLE 41: Michael Shamblin scored a team-high 16 points as Clay County walked away with a home win. Stephen Cole chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers (2-2). Zach Null netted 26 points for Sissonville.
  • NITRO 76, POINT 59: Trevon Taylor and Sam Neff scored 21 points apiece as host Nitro pulled away late. Angelo Sirianni added 18 points for the Wildcats (1-1).
  • Wade Martin had a game-best 26 points for Point Pleasant (0-4) and Dylan McCarty scored 19.

  • WINFIELD 54, RIPLEY 33: The visiting Generals outscored the Vikings 39-15 after falling behind 18-15 in the first quarter. Chris Turner notched 16 points for Winfield (3-0) while Toby Show added 12 points and Brock Pence 11. Kade Harrison totaled nine points for Ripley (1-1).
  • GW 69, SPRING VALLEY 44: Luke Eddy led all scorers with 17 points and added seven rebounds and six assists to help George Washington to its first win of the season.
  • Alex Lewis, Dominik King and Austin Breeden each scored 10 points for the host Patriots (1-1). Austin Keyser led the Timberwolves (2-1) with 10 points.

  • BUFFALO 75, WAHAMA 56: Levi Jordan posted 20 points for host Buffalo. Laythen Good chipped in 15 points for the Bison (2-0), while Aaron Lewis grabbed 15 boards. For the White Falcons (0-2), Austin Jordan had 12 points and Jacob Ortiz 10.
  • PARK. SOUTH 83, JOHN MARSHALL 35: Parkersburg South jumped out to a 48-20 halftime lead en route to a home win. Doug Dennis led the Patriots (2-1) with 19 points and Wes Mitchem added 16. Tanner Filben was the lone player in double figures for JM (1-2) with 14 points.
  • GREEN. EAST 62, HERITAGE, VA. 48: Rondale Watson scored 24 points and Obi Romeo 13 to lead Greenbrier East in the semifinals of the Covington (Va.) Rotary Tournament. Watson (10) and Romeo (12) each also posted double-figure rebound totals for the Spartans (4-0). Justin Joyner scored 12 points for Heritage.
  • WYOMING EAST 78, INDEPENDENCE 52: Josh Tunstalle poured in 24 points as the Warriors earned a road win. Cody Lester chipped in with 14 points for Wyoming East and Brett Bowling tossed in 12. Tyler McKinney led the way with 16 points for Independence (1-3) while Shane Greco and Drew D'Angelo had 10 each.
  • LINCOLN COUNTY 50, MIDLAND TRAIL 35: T.J. Arbaugh scored 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for host Lincoln County. Skylar Kelley and Andrew Davis scored 12 points each for the Panthers (1-3). Ricky Carter had 16 for the Patriots.
