POCAHONTAS 47, WEBSTER 38: Tristin Day scored 12 points and Heather Snead added 11 to lead Pocahontas County (5-1) in the third-place game of the Reynolds Oil Classic. Snead also grabbed eight rebounds while Bobbie McNabb led the Warriors with 10 rebounds and eight steals. For Webster County (3-3), Bethany Young and Brandi Clevenger each scored eight points.
RAVENSWOOD 63, GILMER 52: Taylor Youell scored 16 points to lead Ravenswood past host Gilmer County. Melonna Carmichael and Hannah Murray had 15 and 12 points for the Red Devils, respectively. Morgan Allen produced 16 points for Gilmer County.
SPRING VALLEY 74, TOLSIA 53: Spring Valley jumped out to a 40-21 halftime lead and Timberwolves cruised to a road win. Madison Morris poured in 25 points for Spring Valley. Krista Maynard had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Rebels (3-1), while Jordan Pressley added 14 points.
HOOVER 55, WAYNE 43: Bailey Aab turned in 10 points and 11 rebounds as host Herbert Hoover downed the Pioneers. Jordan Marshall scored 14 points for the Huskies (3-1), who outrebounded Wayne 49-28 and forced 37 turnovers. Tasha Maynard contributed 20 points and seven boards for the Pioneers and Ally Toney had 14 points.
CHAS. CATHOLIC 63, LEWIS 56: Charleston Catholic outscored Lewis County 12-5 in overtime in the consolation game of the Ritchie County tournament. Samantha Fletcher poured in 28 points for the Class A Fighting Irish (2-3) while Anna Whelan dropped in 16 and Madison Helmick had 10. Danielle James tossed in 15 points for the AAA Minutemaids (0-6) while Brailey Bozic chipped in 12 and Karli Hamrick 12.
CLAY 73, SUMMERS 54: Brittany Gould pumped in 24 points as Clay County bested host Summers County. Emily Wynn also contributed 17 points for the Panthers (6-0). Brandy Morrison had a team-high 18 points for the Bobcats (4-1), while Tyra Wynes posted 16.
ST. ALBANS 57, POINT 22: Breanna Propst scored 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead St. Albans (3-2) against visiting Point Pleasant (1-5). Torri Wilson added 13 points for the Red Dragons while Andrea Porter led Point with 13 points.
SSAC sets events for hoops tournament anniversary
Special banquet speakers at the 100th state boys basketball tournament in March will be announced at a press conference Jan. 10 at the Charleston Civic Center.
The speakers kick off the tournament celebration at an open-to-the-public banquet on Tuesday, March 12 at the Civic Center, the site of the tournament March 13-16.
Banquet attendees will be given a limited-edition 100th tournament souvenir program that will include team photos of most, if not all, of the 229 past state champions as well as lists of all championship coaches, all-tournament teams, tournament trivia, feature stories, and many statistical lists and photos.
Fred Persinger of MetroNews will serve as toastmaster. Advance banquet tickets are available from the SSAC.
A 100th tournament logo will be unveiled and used on the Civic Center court as well as on programs, event publicity, shirts and other tournament materials.
Also, state tournament memorabilia will be featured in the lobby areas at the Civic Center - Class A on March 13, Class AA on March 14 and Class AAA on March 15.
All schools that have participated in a state tournament can display items with contributions welcome from schools, coaches, alumni or community members.
Ray Londeree of the SSAC heads the memorabilia committee and information is available on the 100th year at the SSAC website, www.wvssac.org.

Rashaud Kincaid and Trey Clark each added 10 points for the Black Eagles, who led 48-38 after three quarters and were still up by 11 points with three minutes left before the Tigers rallied.
"We took a couple bad shots,'' said SC coach Vic Herbert, "and on three straight possessions they hit a 2 and two 3s and were right back in it. We just didn't close them out.''
