Boys roundup: SA downs Capital; Nitro tops Ripley

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- St. Albans jumped out to a 12-point halftime lead en route to a 58-49 home win over Capital Tuesday in boys basketball.

Nathan McNeil led the Red Dragons (1-1) with 17 points, while Kevic Watkins added 16 and Taylor Clark 14.

Carrington Morris and Brad Grose both netted a team-high 14 points for the Cougars (1-3).

  • NITRO 77, RIPLEY 51: Angelo Sirianni scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter to pace the host Wildcats to victory. Ethan Clark got Nitro off to a solid start by netting 13 of his 19 points in the opening quarter, including three 3-pointers.
  • Also for the Wildcats (2-1), Trevon Taylor added 11 points and Hunter Ferrari 10. For the Vikings (1-2), Casey Smith scored 16 points and Chuck Sleboda 12.

  • RIVERSIDE 76, SPRING VALLEY 70: Nick Light collected a double-double with 17 points and 19 rebounds as Riverside downed host Spring Valley.
  • Tyus Wood had a team-high 18 points for the Warriors (3-0), while Marcus Reed scored 15 points and dished out 10 assists. Jacob Kilgore exploded for 31 points for Timberwolves (1-2).

  • PRINCETON 63, WINFIELD 57: After trailing by 19 points with three minutes left in the third period, the host Generals battled back within four points with one minute to go but could get no closer.
  • Ryan Meadows had 26 points for the visiting Tigers (2-1), while Hunter Walters chipped in 14 and Aaron Ferguson added 10. Zach Fisher netted 27 points for the Generals (3-1), who scored 15 points combined in the second and third quarters. Chris Turner pitched in 13 points for Winfield.

  • POCA 58, NICHOLAS 50: Noah Frampton scored 15 points as Poca notched a road win.
  • Jake Payne contributed 11 points for the Dots (4-1). Cody McClung and Austin Hill had 17 and 10 points, respectively, for Nicholas County (1-2).

  • BUFFALO 84, FAYETTEVILLE 35: Levi Jordan posted 19 points for Buffalo in a win over Fayetteville (1-4).
  • Dylan Rich recorded 14 for the Bison (4-0). Aaron Krise was the lone Fayetteville player in double digits with 12 points.

  • LINCOLN COUNTY 51, CHAPMANVILLE 43: T.J. Arbaugh turned in 24 points and 13 rebounds for host Lincoln County.
  • Kenny Holton contributed 10 points and 10 boards for the AAA Panthers (2-3), who outscored the Tigers 19-5 in the third quarter to break open a close game. Mackenzie Martin scored 17 points for Chapmanville and Kenny Plumley added 14.

  • CROSS LANES 48, ELK VALLEY 32: Tyler Corbin led three players in double-figures with  17 points for visiting Cross Lanes Christian.
  • Anthony Maharie added 11 points for the Warriors and Austin Davis had 10. Jordan Elkins tallied 15 points for the Eagles (1-3).

  • VALLEY 86, SHERMAN 56: Cody Winter and Zac Warden tallied 17 points apiece to pace the host Greyhounds. Raeshawn Breckenridge donated 10 points for Valley (2-0), which led 46-28 at the break.
