Boys roundup: SC edges Capital 69-62 in overtime

A.D. Cunningham poured in 30 points and host South Charleston fought off an inspired effort from short-handed Capital to earn a 69-62 overtime boys basketball victory at the S.C. Community Center.

Capital's Carrington Morris forced the OT by hitting a 3-point shot in the final seconds. The Cougars (3-6), who recently lost several upperclassmen, led 35-32 at halftime.

Morris led Capital with 23 points and Miguel Bays added 13, but the Cougars failed to score in the OT. Hunter Moles scored nine points for the Black Eagles (6-1), who rebounded from a 73-62 loss to Madison Central (Ky.) on Saturday.

  • WINFIELD 67, RIVERSIDE 55: Chris Turner contributed 20 points and nine rebounds and Zach Fisher had 20 points and seven assists to carry Winfield past visiting Riverside. Jake Lemmerman added 10 points for the Generals (5-3). For Riverside, Marcus Reed had 18 points, Tyus Wood 14 and Nick Light 13.
  • ST. ALBANS 55, PARKERSBURG 53: Nathan McNeil had a season-high 23 points as the host Red Dragons held on to get the win. SA spread the floor in the final quarter but made just 4 of 7 free throws. Tanner Aliff added 10 points and 10 rebounds for St. Albans (3-4). For the Big Reds, Trevor Britton scored 17 points, Ben Umpleby 12 and Braeden Cabbil 10.
  • HURRICANE 69, POINT 60: Trey Dawson led a balanced attack with 16 points as the visiting Redskins (5-2) held on for the win. Henry Sorsaia, Ian Miles and Alex Osburn each added nine points. Dillon McCarty led Point Pleasant with 23 points. The Big Blacks (1-7) played without No. 2 scorer Wade Martin, who sat out the first of a two-game suspension.
  • BUFFALO 50, SOUTH GALLIA, OHIO 42: Levi Jordan scored 14 points as Buffalo pulled away with a road win. Laythen Good added 13 for the Bison (8-0). Cody Lambert scored a game-high 19 points for South Gallia (4-6) and Brayden Greer pitched in 13.
  • SCOTT 63, CHAPMANVILLE 51: Eric May netted a season-high 21 points to pace the unbeaten host Skyhawks (8-0). Matt Dolan and Logan Webb each tallied 14 for Scott. For the Tigers, Kenny Plumley scored 17 points, Michael Hurst 15 and Mackenzie Martin 13.
