Capital grad in East-West Shrine game

Capital High graduate Tyrone Goard, who played wide receiver at Eastern Kentucky, has accepted an invitation to play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game.

Goard had 900 yards receiving in 2012 on 41 catches in 10 games for EKU. He averaged 90 receiving yards per game and 22 yards per catch, while scoring eight touchdowns. He had a long of 78 yards for a score.

The game will be held Jan. 19, 2013, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., at 4 p.m. It will be televised live on NFL Network.

Such names as John Elway, Tom Brady, Brett Favre and 62 NFL Hall of Famers have played in the event, along with 52 players currently on active NFL rosters.
