CM's Burcham earns Gatorade state honor
Advertiser

Cabell Midland's Jacob Burcham was named the Gatorade West Virginia boys cross country runner of the year Thursday, becoming the first three-time winner in state history.

The senior captured his third straight Class AAA individual state championship this past fall and led the Knights to the team state title. Burcham also won the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional and was 84th in the Nike Cross Nationals Final.

Burcham has maintained a 4.10 grade-point average and is a member of the National Honor Society and the vice president of his school's student body. He also volunteers on behalf of a nursing home and as a youth track coach.

He is now eligible for the Gatorade national award, which will be announced later this month.
